Squirrel Nutkin spies on Old BrownThe story of a snot-nosed squirrel!

Beatrix Potter's animal characters all have distinctive personalities, perhaps none moreso than Squirrel Nutkin.

All the best nuts are on Owl Island, so that's where Nutkin and his cousins like to go. The cousins bring offerings to the island's owner, the owl Old Brown, but sassy Squirrel Nutkin is much less respectful, poking fun at the stern creature many times his size.

Old Brown is slow to act on his anger, but when Nutkin provokes the gruff owl one time too many, he gets away with his life...but not his tail!

This story is an excellent reminder that it's always a good idea to respect your elders...even if only for purposes of self-preservation!
